Because of many irrigation practices upstream, the cattle downstream do not receive much water. Wetlands International worked to solve this water conflict in the Kimana wetlands on the foot of the Kilamanjaro, Kenya. This is done by the setting up of a Wetlands Association, which includes all the actors with water needs - from Masaai cattle rangers to newly arrived farmers. Furthermore, we work on national policies for wetland conservation.
