As part a meeting that begun on Monday September 14th, 2015 in Toubacouta (Centre West) of Senegal, following the annual coordination meeting of Wetlands International’s heads of office, the top brass of the organization have, on Wednesday September 16th, 2015 embraced the various achievements in Senegal’s Saloum Delta by the Program MFSII-Ecosystem Alliance.

The Executive Director of Wetlands International, Ms. Jane Madgwick, together with the Africa Regional Director, Mr. Ibrahima Thiam, other regional office directors and heads of country offices, visited Dassilamé Serere village on Wednesday, September 16th, 2015. In this area, the organization and its partners, namely IUCN Netherlands and Both Ends, succeeded in making important achievemens for the benefit of the Inter Village Association of Dassilamé Serere (AIV) hence the visit. The team of Wetlands International officials started by visiting the vegetable garden of the AIV in which about 120 people work, most of whom are women. The team further went to the mangrove reforestation site of Maria Nguel and later visited the 36 km garlands oyster farm made by the AIV and concluded vith a visit to the Dassilamé honey fabric. All top brass visitors of Wetlands International, commended the level of achievement by MFSII-Ecosystem Alliance.

On behalf of the beneficiary communities, the village chief and the Imam thanked Wetlands International for siding with their people over these years to improve their living conditions and help them to better protect their environment while providing them with income generating activities. They called on their illustrous guests to bring more support in their area by the implementing up new projects and programs.

Wetlands International officials are meeting in the village of Toubacouta (Centre West) Senegal from Monday 14th to Thursday 17th September, 2015. They came from the organization’s headquarters in the Netherlands but also from Russia, Japan, China , Indonesia, India, Argentina, Panama, Mali, Kenya, Malaisia and Senegal.
