My professional journey as an agronomist has been deeply influenced by a passion for environmental stewardship and a commitment to empower communities through sustainable practices. I am passionate about agriculture and its immense potential to develop and sustain the regions where I grew up and now work.
My dedication for environmental conservation and sustainable development drives my work to ensure that both current and future generations can benefit from thriving natural habitats.
My responsibility as an agronomist at Wetlands International is to promote eco-friendly agricultural techniques that benefit both the environment and the people who depend on it. Currently focusing on Ethiopia’s Central Rift Valley, I advance sustainable agricultural practices and implementing landscape restoration projects to support wetland ecosystems.
With extensive experience in agricultural research, seed technology development, and landscape restoration, I have been privileged to contribute to various initiatives aimed at enhancing environmental resilience and community livelihoods. I excel at planning and scaling best-fit agricultural technologies and advocating for sustainable practices.
One of my notable accomplishments is leading successful field programmes that integrate innovative agricultural techniques with traditional knowledge like vermicomposting, resulting in improved crop yields and sustainable land management.
I hold a Master’s degree in Agriculture, specialising in plant breeding from Haramaya University and a Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture from Hawassa University.
Outside of work, as a devoted family person, I cherish the quality time with my wife and two children. Their achievements inspire me to work even harder toward creating a better future for all children.
