Programme Assistant

Tanzania

Working for Wetlands International has been one of the best experiences in my career path. I grew up loving nature, having originated from the Mt Kilimanjaro region in Tanzania that is evergreen and packed with numerous breathtaking sites. As a little girl, I keenly observed and learned the measures undertaken by both the governmental and non-governmental stakeholders to conserve our natural resources.

Fortunately, my career path has always spurred me to serve, share knowledge and learn, and to be the pioneer of the positive changes we want to see in the society. This culture compliments the objectives of Wetlands International and aligns with my goals.

What I love about what we do at Wetlands International is not just conserving and restoring wetlands, but also the engagement with the local communities with the endeavour to positively impact their lives. I find pride being entrusted with the duty to assist in the effective management and coordination of the East Africa Wetlands Initiative portfolio and ensuring the delivery of results.

In the last seven years I have worked with both the government and private sectors such as IPSOS Tanzania, where I gained experience in undertaking participatory natural resources management in consultation with the local communities and key stakeholders, preparing project reports for donors, undertaking logistical and administrative tasks related to project implementation and also contributing to the development of bankable conservation proposals as part of a wider resource mobilisation strategy.

I hold a Masters of Arts degree in Project Planning and Management from the University of Dar es Salaam and a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Tumaini University, Dar es Salaam Campus.

When I am away from work, I love nature photography, physical exercise, engaging with communities, sightseeing, exploring new cultures, and learning new things related to my career and other aspects of life.
