From a young age, I have been fascinated by nature. This passion ignited a deep desire to connect with the environment, leading me to pursue a degree in environmental sciences, specialising in natural resources management for both my undergraduate and post graduate studies.
As the Regional Programme Manager at Wetlands International Eastern Africa, I lead the Programmes team in strategic planning and project design to align with our organisational goals and objectives. This role is particularly fulfilling for me as I collaborate directly with project officers to conserve and restore ecosystems for people and nature. It is a rewarding leadership role!
I have extensive experience in integrated water resources management and environmental conservation, having worked with various organisations across the sector. My roles in government, NGOs and international organisations have honed my technical skills and expanded my professional network. Prior to joining Wetlands International, I was a Senior Transboundary Water Resources Officer in the State Department for Water and Sanitation, where I provided technical guidance for the development of social and environmental policies aimed at sustainably managing transboundary water resources.
I hold a certificate in Integrated Water Resources Management and Health from the Centre for International Postgraduate Studies in Environmental Management (CIPSEM) at TU Dresden, Germany. I am also an alumnus of Young Water Diplomats Programme of IHE Delft Institute for Water Education and the Young Women Leadership on Climate Adaptation by the Ban-Ki Moon Centre for Global Citizens. In 2016, I was honoured to receive an award from the Conservation Leadership Programme.
When I’m not immersed in environmental initiatives, I treasure my time with my family, which is my greatest joy! I also love to explore new horizons through travel and outdoor adventures, especially cycling and traversing nature trails.
