Technical Officer

Ethiopia

As the Technical Officer, I support projects on Integrated Water Resource Management in the Ziway-Shalla Basin in Ethiopia. Essentially, I help in processes related to water allocation, irrigation efficiency and land management, with one of my main roles to increase capacity of the local water authority in order to manage their water resources better.

Before joining Wetlands, I did several internships: studied a water conflict problem emanating from an irrigation scheme in Burkina Faso; conducted a pre-feasibility study on a drinking water reservoir in Indonesia; and modeled nitrate flows in groundwater for a project in China.

I studied International Land and Water Management at Wageningen University in Netherlands. I have always enjoyed nature, and my love hiking and traveling led me down this career path.

I hope that through this work, I can help Ethiopia take good care of her natural resources to support the livelihoods of the local communities while at the same time conserving nature.
